IE9 64-bit issues

Postby jnewman67 on Wed May 23, 2012 12:45 pm

Warzone (from the madcow homepage) has some glitches on my new machine. I get tanks that die, but don't leave the board (they are invisible, but their power bars stay solid green - just a floating green bar remains) - they aren't targets, but remain as obsticles others have to go around. Had three of them appear in one game (currently up to 231K score because one appeared in a 1-block wide path :)

Image attached to show where currently blocked. the other two blocks occurred at the top and middle entrances. I've seen them appear most anywhere in other games.

specs:

Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit
Core i7-2600 @ 3.4GHz (quad-core)
nVidia NVS 300 (dual)
16GB RAM
1TB Drive
IE 9.0.8112.16421 64-bit
Flash ActiveX/Plugin 11.2.202.235
Shockwave 11.6.5.635
nVidia Drivers 271.05

thought someone might like to know.

here's an updated photo - notice the top right-most square has a life-bar with no tank? and in the middle entry area, bottom-right square, there's another. thought you might like to see what they actually look like. Based on other times I've seen them appear, they can appear anywhere. in this game, the did happen to appear next to blocks that i'd placed intentionally.

and check out that score :)

so it's been about 30 hours now - up to 409,900 for a high score. curent wave is 447. it seems to be slowing down on the scoring, due to the eventual pileup of 4-5 "blue" targets that finally all got to the blockage as lesser targets were removed. have about 30+ $3200 cannons firing away, and a slew of $1600 cannons as well.

I'm curious - how does the life value of a target get calculated? does each target leave with a predefine value, or does it's value increase the longer it's on the board? it would appear the latter might be the case, as it took just a couple hours to breach 200K points, but it's taken another 28 to double that score. if the life value is time dependent, shouldn't the point value be as well? that doesn't seem to be the case, as simple targets are still only worth about $400 bucks.

my last update seemed to create some unintentional problems which I am looking into.

Thanks for the update - i'll try it out when I get done letting this game run - it's been running for 6 days now, and it's up to 500K points! i'm curious how long it'll take to get to 1 million!

it's running at about 1/2 speed - cannons are taking about 12 seconds to reload and fire. working my way through them all and bumping them up to $3200 versions, and I added a bunch more, just for fun.

Could you answer the question about how the "life" of a target is calculated? is it based on just the Wave number (up to #503 - took all weekend to get throu 55 waves or so), or does it start with that and get "more life" the longer it's been on the board?

Also, i'm noticing that the busier it gets onscreen, the life updates aren't updated (seemed to be skipped completely). if you look at the attached image, the collateral damage is killing off lesser targets eventually (that's how things have kept moving), but their "life" don't decrease (though the blue targets do).

Really like this game, by the way - it's almost winnable, which makes it frustrating enough to just keep trying again! one of the reasons i've let this bugged version run so long is that i'm getting my revenge for the 1000's of time it's whipped me good!

by the way, it would be kind of rewarding if there were an "i give up" button, which would set the current score to zero, disallow uploading a high score, and remove the "invalid placement" limitation. which would mean you could just set up holding pen, and set it up to do what this game is currently doing - allowing some payback! maybe put a 3 minute time limit on it or something so it doesn't get out of hand :)

Final post - 514K high score - ran for 8 days, seems to be maxed out as far as getting much higher much faster.
81 $3,200 cannons, the rest $1,600 cannons, and one $3,200 laser cannon. ended up on wave 508 (was on 507 yesterday, i think, to show how slowly it's progressing).

it was exploiting the glitch, but now i just want to play again!

Life of the enemies is set when they are spawned. Because the game is endless at some point there has to be a steep curve in difficulty and it sound like you are hitting it =P
